Minnie Leonora Bates (14 June 1876 in Schoolcraft, MI - 28 Nov 1965 in Santa Cruz, CA) & William Henry Anstiss (05 Aug 1869 in Lawton, MI - 24 Dec 1959 in Napa, CA) had 9 children:

  1. Frank Bates Anstiss (16 Dec 1897 in Groton, SD - 08 Jan 1964 in Santa Cruz, CA) married Marie Josephine Wenks (24 Oct 1902 in San Francisco, CA - 13 April 1993 in Santa Cruz, CA) on 21 May 1922. They had 3 children.

  4. Alyce Emily Anstiss (24 April 1908 in Groton, SD - 03 April 1999 in Santa Cruz) married Homer Johnstone.

Death notice for Marie Josephine (Wenks) Anstiss

  Marie Josephine (Wenks) Anstiss, wife of Frank Bates Anstiss died 13 April 1993 in Santa Cruz, California. She was born 24 October 1902. She married Frank on 21 May 1922. They had three children; Marie who married John William Bowe (30 April 1918 in NY, NY - 03 Jan 1995 in Santa Cruz, CA), Jerri Rea and Jane. Frank died 08 Jan 1964. Frank's parents were William and Minnie (Bates) Anstiss. Minnie's parents were Isaac and Emily Lorania (Adams) Bates.


Death notice for Alyce (Anstiss) Johnstone

  Loving mother of Homer Johnstone and beloved grandmother of Michael, Jeffrey and Ryan Johnstone, Alyce Johnstone, 90, entered peacefully into rest on April 3, 1999, in Santa Cruz.

  Born in Groton, South Dakota, she was raised and lived most of her life in Santa Cruz. She was a long-time member of the First Church of Religious Science, and leaves behind many dear relatives, extended family and loving friends, all of whom will miss her greatly.

  Memorial Services will be Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at 11:00 a.m. at Norman's Family Chapel in Soquel.

  The family prefers any remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society, 209 Walnut Ave., Santa Cruz, CA 95060
