1989 Adams-McKain Family Reunion

Updated: 14 April 2012

16 members and 1 guest attended the 70th Reunion August 6, 1989 at reserved site #5 Prairie View Park, Portage, MI. Rolland Morse, President, called the business meeting to order. Elected 1990 officers are: President: George Adams, and Secretary/Treasurer: Barbara Gale. It was decided to hold discussion about a game chairman until the next reunion. Barbara reminded the group to provide addresses, family data, and pictures. Rolland & Patty suggested the 71st reunion be held at their farm but later it was decided to reserve Site #5 Prairie View Park for 8/5/90 at 12:00 noon.

The total cash on hand after collecting $8.00 per household is $78.27. The 1988 disbursements are $97.41 and the estimated 1989 disbursements are $95.76 for a total of $93.17. The reunion cost for 1990 is predicted at about $90.00 for a total of $283.17 but since there is only $78.27 on hand, it is suggested that each household pay $20.00 at the 1990 reunion.

Francis Morse, and Colin, the son of Rolland and Patty Morse, were the oldest and the youngest members present. George Adams came the farthest from South Bend, IN.

George is the son of Uriah and Clarice Adams. George's grandfather, Chester Adams, is the son of Uri Mason and Jane Woods McKain Adams. All family present today are descendants of Horace and Lorraina Adams.

It was decided to see if the property purchased by Uri Mason Adams who married Jane Woods McKain 4/19/1865 can be a Centennial Farm, since it is still owned by an Adams descendant. Francis, Dorothy and Rolland Morse plan to apply to the State with the goal of being a Centennial Farm by the 1990 reunion.

After the blessing, the group enjoyed a bountiful potluck dinner, visited, and read letters from family unable to attend. The children played games and went swimming.

Respectfully submitted,

(Signed)
Barbara Gale
